FIPPA

Effective January 1, 2012, the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) provides the public right of access to information held by hospitals while protecting the privacy of individuals whose personal information is held in the hospital’s custody or control.  Accessible information under FIPPA includes most general records and records containing your own personal information but does not include personal health information protected by the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).

 

Please note that only records created or which came into the custody or control of hospitals on or after January 1, 2007, are subject to FIPPA.  Records requested may also be subject, all or in part, to exemptions and exclusions as set out in FIPPA.  Therefore, some or all of the record information requested may be withheld from the public.

Emergency Department

The Emergency Department at the Espanola Regional Hosptial and Health Centre provides 24-hour emergency services, 7 days a week.

Quality at a Glance

The Excellent Care for All Act, which received royal assent in June 2010, requires hospitals to develop an annual Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) for the following fiscal year and make it available to the public. The QIP provides the means for hospitals to communicate to their public, patients, and staff that they are committed to accountability and transparency, and focused on creating a positive patient experience and delivering high quality health care.

Accountability and Transparency
The Broader Public Sector Accountability Act, 2010 (BPSAA), which received Royal Assent on December 8, 2010, includes a number of new transparency and accountability mechanisms for hospitals, LHINs and the broader public sector around the use of lobbyists, consultants and expenses.

Public Sector Salary Disclosure

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 is just one measure ensuring Ontario's public sector is transparent and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to disclose annually the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in a calendar year.

The act
applies to organizations such as the Government of Ontario, Crown Agencies, Municipalities, Hospitals, Boards of Public Health, School Boards, Universities, Colleges, Hydro One, Ontario Power Generation, and other public sector employers who receive a significant level of funding from the provincial government.

Ontario’s hospitals operate in one of the most demanding, complex, accountable healthcare systems in all of Canada. Virtually every aspect of a hospital’s performance is regularly subject to external, independent scrutiny, including compensation of its employees. When salaries are set at Espanola Regional Hospital & Health Centre(ERHHC), they are based on many factors, including, competitive market rates, province-wide union settlements, and comprehensive evaluation conducted by an external agency. Benchmarking has shown that the salaries at ERHHC are on par with our peer hospitals of similar size and complexity across the province.

Visitor Advisory

General visiting hours are daily from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm & 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm 


Only two visitors per patient will be permitted. 


- Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.


 - These visiting guidelines are intended to provide our patients the time that they need to heal and to help us reduce the risk of infection.


- The main entrance will be locked between the hours of 10:00p.m. and 7:00a.m.


- It is important to wash your hands before and after visiting. Please use the hand sanitizer solution provided in patient rooms and main entrances.
